This Health Freedom Action Item demands a total ban all GMOs and supports a massive independent, third party investigation of the harm already caused by GMO release and how to remediate it.  Act now, once for every member of your family.

"GMOs" are Genetically Modified Organisms. Despite the marketing ploys of the biotechnology industry, which is intimately connected with the chemical and drug industries, GMOs do NOT include the type of plant and farm animal breeding that humans have practiced for millennia. Instead,  GMOs are the result of the application of sophisticated laboratory techniques by Big Agra (the same companies are also Big Pharma, by the way) researchers to change plant and farm animal genes to create products to produce novel proteins or other substances with which the human body has no prior experience. GMO plants, for example, may contain non-plant genetic material that may cause the plant to make never-before-encountered chemicals  which the body has no way to deal with. GMOs, and the dangerous chemicals that they are modified to survive the presence of, are known to damage organs, cause infertility and the death of fetuses in utero, auto immune disease and a host of other serious and sometimes lethal illnesses and hazards.

The "Precautionary Principle" holds that people, their property and the environment should not be subject to tresspas by novel products that have not been shown to be safe. Thus we oppose the US Government's anti-scientific position that GMO products do not have to be subjected to any significant safety testing because they have been administratively, not scientifically, declared to be "substantially equivalent" to unmodified products. We reject the FDA's regulatory position that purveyors of GMO "foods" do not have to label them as such, and that GMO-Free foods are forbidden [!] from being so labeled! This position is completely contrary to US law and the spirit of the First Amendment.

As the Supreme Court told us in Thompson v. Western States Medical Center - 01-344, decided on April 29, 2002 - 535 U.S. 357): "If the First Amendment means anything, it means that regulating speech must be a last - not first - resort... We have previously rejected the notion that the Government has an interest in preventing the dissemination of truthful commercial information in order to prevent members of the public from making bad decisions with the information...  Even if the Government did argue that it had an interest in preventing misleading advertisements, this interest could be satisfied by the far less restrictive alternative of requiring ... a warning that the [the product] had not undergone FDA testing and that its risks were unknown..."

The FDA prohibits safety review by its staff. The USDA admits that there is no way to track or contain these plants and animals, or prevent them from permanently contaminating the environment.  The companies that grow them admit that they cannot contain them.  They are actively invading our food supply, creating super bugs, super weeds, damaged DNA throughout the biosphere.  The only way to stop this is a total ban on all GMO foods, drugs and products plus an enormous research project to identify the damage and find ways to counter it.

GMO genetic matter is inherently unstable.  As the novel gene(s) disturb the functioning of the DNA in the cells which contain it (the cells of your body, as well as the cells of the genetically modified food, the cells of any fetus' body whose mother eats GMO food, the beneficial and other organisms in your body, the organisms in the environment which are corrupted by the travelling genes, in short, all life on the planet) coompounds are created, and enzymes are poisoned.  The impact of this is virtually unknown.  We do, however, know the following:

1. Novel proteins lead to novel, and potentially lethal disease and disfunction, including destruction of CD4 cells, often diagnoses as HIV/AIDS

2. Inserted genes escape into the host and the environment where they are permanant alterations to the new hosts, from which they escape again, etc.

3. Biotech companies are also chemical and pharmaceutical companies.  Most plants are modified to accept high levels of dangerous agricultural chemicals like glyphosate, now sold with up to 70% Agent Orange because super weeds have developed against which straight glyphosate is ineffective.

4. GMO crops lead to 4 times as much pesticide use as conventional ones.

5. GMO crops are more drought-prone than conventional ones.

6. Protecting GMO intellectual rights means criminalizing saving seeds around the world.

7. GMO production reduces the number of species which are produced, leading to an inevitable food-supply cataclysm since new blights and diseases can emerge to destroy a mono-crop

8. Animals fed GMO fodder and GMO plants "weave" foreign genes into their bodies so we consume them and are contaminated by them.

9. Every independent GMO feeding study conducted shows grave health problems associated with consuming GMO foods.

10. No comprehensive study of the extent, and the nature, of the damage GMOs have already dont to the biosphere yet exists.  This is an urgent requirement for a sustainable future for this planet and its inhabitants.

Until GMO "Franken-food" is proven safe for human use, a task that might take a generation to be sure (consider for example, how exposure to an environmental toxin can result in cancer decades later) such novel substances must be totally banned. Currently Big Agra companies can easily put new GMO products on the market with just rudimentary in-house testing. That must stop. NOW!

We do not want market penetration by these "Franken-foods" to the detriment of health, the biosphere and its integrety, including heritage seed, seed saving, real organic food and other natural agricultural practices whioch supply us with the basis for health and life.

Big Agra companies profit when more chemicals are used.  Their sister divisions and companies, the drug manufacturers, profit when your food makes you sick. And the Biotech companies, linked to them both, profit when your food is their property, allowing them to totally control the world's food supply while contaminating it for their profit and any other agenda they might have in mind. 

Despite the hype and hoopla, it is clear that the industrial push for GMO products is more related to the legal capacity of such novel food substitutes to be owned Big Agra and Big Biotech as proprietary technologies, despite the clear harm to the environment and the consumer.

Please join us in sending this message to your national and state legislators, governors and other executive decision maker: BAN ALL FORMS OF GMOs NOW, WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME.
