Is natural abortion an option...?

An increasing number of women, who do not desire to be pregnant, choose to naturally induce an abortion. This gives them a chance to keep the procedure private, which may be essential for those, whose families would not support otherwise, or for those, whose country considers abortion illegal. Natural abortion is much less expensive than an operation and also carries fewer risks to the mother. However, the failure rate for the procedure is quite high (almost 50%), the foetus remains unharmed. A natural abortion is best to be tried in the first time pregnancy. After that, it is most likely to produce no results.

Natural abortion is being practiced for centuries. The Greeks and the Romans had many herbal potions that they used for abortion. However, with of the early detection mechanisms and various other scientific means available, the herbal method is not very popular now.

Abortifacient herbs are used for inducing abortion naturally. Abortifacients are strong, powerful herbs and should be used only for short periods.

6. Parsley for use with other herbs or vitamin c. Good for starting a late period
7. Pennyroyal One of the more toxic choices available
8. Pineapple (unripe) - Commonly used in tropical areas where pineapple normally grows.
9. Tansy
10. Vitamin C Interferes with progesterone, works best before the 5th week of pregnancy.

Are there any risks through natural abortion…?

A well-known natural health consultant, Tammy L Mahan, has listed out a few risks that a woman is objected to, through natural abortion. Incomplete abortion, excessive bleeding, infection and psychological effects as with all kinds of abortion, are the possible risks involved.

According to Dr David C Reardon, the suicidal thoughts after an abortion come to an astounding 60 percent to the women, who have had any kind of abortion. A surgical abortion may be a better option in such cases, for at least there is a medical support present, whereas a natural abortion is often a lone affair.

Necessary precautions

It is always advisable to have an expert opinion before attempting a natural abortion. This is mainly because a few pre-existing conditions may aggravate after the use of certain herbs. Pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure, epilepsy, diabetes, problems with liver, heart, or kidney can become more severe because of the herbs. Women who are on birth control medication or any other drugs, should make sure that these herbs would not counteract with those medications. A natural abortion is not recommended, also if you have an IUD, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, or fibroids define.

Irrespective of the varied opinions on abortion, a woman should have the right to decide, when she wants to take up the responsibility of a new life. However, it is also advisable to make sure about whichever methodology you use, that it is medically compatible and risk free for the recipient. And what better can be than to have the psychological support from the family and spouse, which is needed the most at such a situation.
